5-Amino-1MQ is not a peptide but a small molecule: a membrane-permeable inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme that consumes NAD+ precursors and is elevated in fat tissue in obesity.

Neelakantan and colleagues at the University of Texas Medical Branch reported that 5-amino-1MQ reduced body weight and fat mass in diet-induced obese mice and raised NAD+ and S-adenosylmethionine in fat tissue (Biochemical Pharmacology, 2018), with later work in muscle cells and in models of muscle aging.

All published data are in cells and rodents; there are no human trials. It is grouped with the cellular and longevity compounds because the mechanism sits on the NAD+ pathway.
