Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Russian studies report anxiolytic and nootropic effects in rodent models and in small clinical studies of anxiety disorders, with proposed mechanisms including modulation of GABA receptor expression and of BDNF (Volkova and colleagues, Frontiers in Pharmacology, 2016). It is registered as a medicine in Russia as a nasal spray.
Most of the literature is Russian-language or from Russian groups, and independent replication is limited. The research material sold here is a lyophilised peptide, not the registered nasal spray.
