Sermorelin is the 1-29 fragment of growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH), the shortest fragment with full biological activity at the GHRH receptor.
Unusually for this range, sermorelin was a licensed medicine: it was approved in the United States in the 1990s as a diagnostic agent and for paediatric growth hormone deficiency (Geref), and later withdrawn for commercial rather than safety reasons. Published human studies from that era include work by Corpas and colleagues on GH and IGF-1 responses in older adults (Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1992).
