SR-9009, commonly called stenabolic, is a synthetic agonist developed at the Scripps Research Institute to probe the REV-ERB nuclear receptors that help regulate the circadian clock and cellular metabolism. What the research says about SR-9009
SR-9009 was introduced by Solt and colleagues in Nature in 2012. The paper described SR9009 and its sibling SR9011 as synthetic REV-ERB agonists and reported that, in mice, they altered circadian behaviour and gene expression, reduced fat mass in diet induced obese animals and improved several metabolic markers. The compound was designed as a chemical tool for studying the clock, and that is still its main use in academic work.
Woldt and colleagues followed in Nature Medicine in 2013 with work connecting REV-ERB alpha to mitochondrial content and autophagy in skeletal muscle, reporting increased exercise capacity in mice treated with SR9009. This paper is the origin of almost every endurance claim made about the compound. The critical caveat arrived later: Dierickx and colleagues, publishing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2019, found that SR9009 produced effects in cells that lacked REV-ERB entirely, which means at least some of its activity is off target and not explained by the mechanism it is named for.
There are no published human trials of SR-9009 of any kind. Pharmacokinetic work in rodents reported very poor oral bioavailability and a short half life, which is a substantive problem for any oral capsule format and is rarely mentioned in retail descriptions. Anyone studying this compound should treat the mouse literature as a hypothesis about REV-ERB biology rather than as a description of what happens in a person.

Is SR-9009 legal in the UK in 2026? SR-9009 is not controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and is lawful to buy and hold in the United Kingdom as a research chemical. It has no marketing authorisation, so selling or advertising it for human consumption would breach MHRA rules. It is listed here for laboratory research only.
How fast is delivery? Is stenabolic prohibited in sport? Yes. SR-9009 is prohibited at all times under section S4.5 of the WADA prohibited list, covering metabolic modulators. WADA has published detection methods for it and it has appeared in adverse analytical findings.
Why does the literature disagree about how SR-9009 works? Because the 2019 work by Dierickx and colleagues showed activity in REV-ERB knockout cells, which the original mechanism cannot explain. The honest position in 2026 is that SR-9009 does something measurable in rodent models and that the target responsible for at least part of it is unresolved.

Pretty good
I found these good for burning fat I didn’t really find it to give me much energy a little bit not as much as I thought it would.
But for burning fat in a calorie deficit diet and cardio most days it was good for that stubborn fat.
This is good if you r not a fan of cardio and want to burn fat fast.
