What are SARMs?
“SARMs” stands for Selective Androgen Modulator Receptors. They are substances which, when taken, work selectively to bind to muscle receptors for muscle gain and fat loss.
SARMs are similar to anabolic steroids in their results, but their selective nature means that they produce fewer adverse side effects. Anabolic steroids are not selective and will bind to any part of the body. This does include muscle, but may also include vital organs or parts of the body like the eyes and skin.
SARMs bind only to muscle receptors, meaning that they will only affect muscle mass and strength.
If you are new to the gym and looking to build muscle, the first thing you need to remember is to have patience. Dietary supplements can help you, but without the proper understanding of fitness training and correct diet plan, your efforts will go in vain.
You may be tempted to try SARMs having heard about them in the fitness world, but you need to understand how they work, and follow the proper dosage and cycles in order to get the maximum benefits. Laws on SARMs are different everywhere, so it’s equally as important to make sure you’re medically and legally approved where you are.
SARMs are widely shown to be safer than anabolic steroids, and can be taken orally without injecting anything into the body. Not only does this save painful daily treatments, but it ensures a safer experience and removes the risk of blood-transmitted diseases from poorly-treated needles.
There are many SARM products available online and it is important that you buy from a reputable site. SARMs must be high quality. Products from dishonest suppliers are at best a scam, and at worst full of unlabelled, misdosed, or highly dangerous chemicals. These could pose a serious impact to your health - so you must always shop safely and with professional advice.
What’s Best for My First SARMs Cycle?
The correct compound will be based on the goal that you have in mind, and the purpose for which you are using it. You might want to add more lean muscle or lose some body fat, so you need to devise a fitness plan with professional guidance first before you start taking SARMs supplements.
Many beginners try to consume different products at the same time, thinking that they will get quicker results. This is far from the truth, and is a dangerous step because it can lead to unknown and adverse side effects.
Some people like to “stack” their SARMs as their experience level grows. You should always take your time and introduce new medications gradually, but this is particularly important for total beginners who are not used to the kinds of SARMs that work for them or who are still finding their feet around a routine. These types of supplements produce fast results once they are in place, so introducing them too soon only does more harm than good.
Once you reach a level of comfort and experience that you can think about stacking SARMs, it’s - as always - essential that you do your research. Our blog post on stacking is one of many resources you should seek out along with medical advice.
You should initially stick to one compound and follow the proper cycle to see that you are getting the desired results before jumping to a different product. The effective dose of SARM will differ for each person, too, and you should discuss with a professional trainer to get a better understanding of it.
Don’t just try to follow the routine that your friend is doing, because it might not result in the same changes. Each person has a different physiology, so independent assessment should be made when taking any supplements.
How to Cycle SARMs?
Most SARM cycles are followed by a break or a post-cycle replacement therapy (PCT). Many people ignore this, but it is essential as it can save you from unwanted problems later.
PCT allows the body to recover after all the intense changes that have been going on. It also provides time for you to pause and make sure all the other aspects of a healthy supplements routine (diet, sleep, stress level, and alcohol consumption to name a few) are in check.
Steer clear from friends and novices telling you how to cycle SARMs: there is often a contention amongst these people that bigger and faster is better, but this is not the case. Adequate post-cycle therapy is important for recovery, and the greater attention you put into it, the less of a chore it will be in the long run.
For example, if you do a single cycle of a milder SARM like Ostarine, you can follow it up with relatively little post-cycle therapy. Heavier cycles should consider a testosterone booster when off SARMs for 4-6 weeks. Again, this is just an example, and a different compound might be more suitable for you - so always consult with your doctor for the best advice.
Another misconception is that you don’t need to train and diet during the SARM cycle. That is wrong! Many people let go of their health and fitness routine after seeing results and completing the cycle, and then complain that the effect has worn off. For a more in-depth explanation of how you should balance post-cycle therapy and a healthy lifestyle, read our blog post all about PCT.
SARMs will only promote anabolic activity in your body: you need to exercise and eat healthily to maintain your desired physique. Your fitness routine is especially important in the first SARM cycle, because it will help you maintain your lean muscle mass.
How Long Do SARMs Take to Work?
Some people see positive results in the first few weeks of the SARM cycle, while others take a bit more time. You should not stress about this too much because, as mentioned earlier, each body is different and works in diverse ways. What you need to remember is to remain consistent so you can see long-term benefits of SARM supplements.
The question of how long SARMs take to work is dependent on dozens of factors: anything from your own body to the circumstances and doses that you choose, and how your individual genetic makeup responds to them. Weight, fitness routine, overall health, sleep level and quality, genetics, and underlying conditions are just a few of the most common factors that affect SARMs usage - and they are by no means all of them.

What Should I Take For My First SARM Cycle?
Your first cycle should be simple. Use 1 or 2 compounds taken for 8-12 weeks (for men) at the advised dosage. Ostarine is a popular first cycle as it has the potential to reduce body fat whilst adding a good 3-5kg of muscle.
Women should shorten the cycle and lower the dosage significantly: usually, 6-8 weeks is about average, but as always it is best to consult with your doctor to find out exactly what is safest for you. Do not use SARMs if you are pregnant, suspect that you are pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.
You can take this dosage once per day, as Ostarine has an active half-life of 24 hours. Results tend to kick in around week 2, where the weights will feel noticeably easier to rep and you might feel strength going up at a daily rate.
Adding to Ostarine may be even more rewarding; by stacking it with another compound, you can further enhance the results you’re looking for depending on your goal. As discussed earlier on, though, this is once you’ve established yourself into a routine and both you and your medical professional are aware of the changes you’re making.
Cardarine is a popular secondary stacker amongst those looking for endurance and fat loss, whilst Ligandrol can add on even more size. If you would rather try our stacks, you can see our transformation stacks and use it to devise your own plan with a professional.
Please be advised that SARMs are performance enhancers and should be checked by the relevant body to see if they are in the list of unapproved drugs for any professional athletes. As mentioned, laws on SARMs usage differ around the world, so please make sure that you are always using them as specified. SARMs are not currently approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), as testing is relatively new and the long-term effects for users are not yet widely known.
