Trenavar, chemically estra-4,9,11-triene-3,17-dione and usually called trendione, is a steroidal compound that sits one metabolic step away from trenbolone. It appeared in designer supplement products around 2011 and was withdrawn from that market within a few years. The most solid published work on trenavar comes from doping control chemistry rather than from therapeutic research. Analytical groups working on designer steroids have shown, using mass spectrometry after administration studies, that trendione is reduced in the body to trenbolone and that trenbolone metabolites appear in urine afterwards. In other words trenavar behaves as a prohormone of trenbolone, which is a veterinary growth promoter and a compound with no human therapeutic authorisation anywhere.
That metabolic relationship is the only well established fact about trenavar, and it is the fact that matters most. Trenbolone itself is a potent agonist at the androgen and progesterone receptors with a well characterised profile in animal science literature, including strong suppression of endogenous hormone production.
